Welcome to the MECE Teaching Lab

About us

The Mechanical Engineering Teaching Laboratory is the one space all MECE undergraduate and graduate students can call home. Located in room 294 of Mudd Engineering Terrace, this lab is equipped with a variety of experimental apparatuses: fabrication equipment such as CNC mills, lathes, laser cutters, and 3D printers; hand and power tools; and a broad assortment of hardware, electrical components, and raw materials needed for successful student projects. This lab also functions as a teaching space for the following undergraduate courses: Intro to Machining, MECE Lab I and II, Machine Design, and Senior Design. In addition, it serves graduate students enrolled in fabrication-heavy courses such as Robotic Studio and Digital Manufacturing, as well as graduate students pursuing research. Lastly, but certainly not least, the lab is a major hub for all the MECE student organizations who use the space to host club meetings and depend on access to tools and equipment to make their projects competition-ready each year.

We also work closely with our Mechatronics Technology (MechTech) Laboratory across the hall in 273 Engineering Terrace. This lab focuses on electromechanical systems and houses courses such as Robotics Studio and Mechatronics. Please visit the MechTech website for more information about this space.
